The first impression is good.
This air cleaner replaced the one in my 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue 3.5 liter DOHC engine. Size fits and fits. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that the gray wire mesh at the top of the filter (both pictured above and facing the motor at the top) is due to the mesh being larger than the one on this new filter old filters (it just looks a little less constructive). On the other hand, some people like the larger mesh on this new model as it slightly increases airflow (increases engine power). I would recommend her.
