I have used this as the main light in my house when the power is out. I have several other backup/emergency lights that are smaller and more strategically placed around my house. Living alone in the mountains makes readiness absolutely necessary. At 1000 lumens, this light is more than enough for the normal activities I do around my home. Changing the batteries and reseating the case is also no problem compared to similar interventions on a competitor I bought some time ago. It should be remembered that the term "waterproof" does not mean "waterproof". It would be better if the manufacturer would indicate the IP rating of this light. However, I don't care as I have no intention of using this flashlight in the rain. I would recommend this flashlight, although of course I can't comment on the strength of its waterproofing.
