I took a risk with this stand and am very happy about it. The photo of the instructions shows that the protrusions are bent back. This is because you bend them back so they lie flat once they arrive. I bent them back without a fight. I passed my time and there were no problems. There are no pre-drilled pilot holes, so I recommend using a ruler to make sure you're centered, turning the base upside down, marking the holes with a pen, and using an electric drill to make the pilot holes . I used 5/64 bit. It's just so much easier. They give you screws and a small screwdriver when you buy it. Everything worked fine. This is a beautiful rustic base. I don't really understand the negative comments in previous reviews and am very happy with my purchase.
