Bad craft. Offset seams and eyelets/laces.
It must have been a factory second because the right and left shoes were stitched differently and the placement of eyelets/laces/tongue and other things was very different. I thought it might just be this pair, but I bought another pair, slightly different style, and they had the same issues.
