Review on ๐Ÿ”ช KYOKU 3.5" Paring Knife - Shogun Series - Japanese VG10 Steel Core Damascus Blade - with Protective Sheath & Travel Case by Michael Long

High weight - paring knife

The paring knife is very heavy. The edge holds up well. When sharpening a nerd, grinding really is boring. I also used Edge Pro to bring it to 21ยฐ. Strangely, 21 degrees was significantly sharper than the factory. The steel is hard so it took a hot minute to knock off the corner. Once at the age of 21 I perfected a 16 carat diamond sling. It's sharp and cuts well. Edge seems to be holding up. I am happy with the knife. I only took off one star because the factory edge was too blunt and not very sharp. Otherwise, if you like a fairly heavy paring knife, you'll love this one. Keep in mind that you may need to change the angle of the blade by having it professionally sharpened or by yourself. I bought two from this brand. The other had a much sharper edge from the factory, so it could be a consistency issue. If you sharpen yourself, definitely recommend it if you don't mind taking the time.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small household
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for older people
