I wanted to have an indicator in my house that would tell me if the garage door was closed. They specifically sell items that attach to the door and transmit to a device plugged in somewhere in the house. But I didn't want any other gadget. So I connected two of these to my alarm system and now I not only know if the garage door is open, but also which one (I have an alphanumeric display). Also, my garage is now secured with a security system, and all for less than half the cost of a standalone garage door monitor.
