I have a bad filter with supposedly bad coconut charcoal. The water has an unpleasant smell; noticed a very strong smell when pouring the conditioner and a subtle smell after a 5 gallon conditioner. So three things probably went wrong. 1. Someone ignored the GAC carbon plant. 2. QA at gac factory didn't notice anything. 3. Errors in the quality check in the filter factory. Now it's a pretty useless item in the attic. Can be used as a garden drip filter.
