They are a lot thicker than I expected. My mother had similar ones, only much thinner and smaller. I was very disappointed at first, but with a little trial and error I'm really very satisfied. I've found that I can't get all of the detergent onto the fabric or it's almost impossible to get all of the soap off. I dip it in soapy water and wring it out thoroughly until it's almost dry. It's too wet and you just spill water everywhere. It takes a lot of force to push them out because they are thick and big. I'm older and not very strong in my hands/wrists. That said, they work well and cover a large area, but if you're looking for a thinner, softer fabric, they probably aren't for you. The more I use them, the more I like them.
