Overall, this is a good coffee funnel, but there are three minor problems: 1) If you brew on a surface that isn't 100%, your cup will run all over the surface. It seems that the coffee droplets escaping from the bottom somehow make contact with the funnel and stick to it due to surface tension, collect on top of the cup holder and then fall onto the counter. I first encountered this while camping: I couldn't get a decent cast. It also happened at home once or twice. 2) If you put it upside down in the dishwasher, water and detergent will accumulate in it. There is a pocket next to the opening that will collect water and sand if you wash it upside down. The design does not allow drainage. Now I wash them right side up and that seems to help, although it probably won't come clean. 3) The ribs inside do a great job of draining the coffee from the filter into the cup - too quickly a fact. I've found that the water in this funnel doesn't boil enough because it comes out too fast! Ideal for quick cup preparation. Not suitable for making a good cup.
