I have used these gloves to handle hot cooking sets on and off the fire - pulling tinfoil dinners on and off hot coals - hot logs on the fire and in my hearth to arrange Please note that it is still dangerous to lift hot coals with it. After a few seconds, the heat will travel through your fingertips and possibly burn you. That being said, it's all you really need to work with wood, moving the less hot parts of the wood around while shielding you from the overall heat of the flame.
