life changer! - Electronic Training Collars

This is the best collar I have ever bought for my dog. JE. He is an 11 year old pit bull who has never had a good rating. This is the type of dog that knows his commands, is obedient when off a leash in our fenced yard, and is obedient around the house. BUT once he can escape, he will! He's been like this since he was 3 months old. It rushes by, pounces, and uses any open door as an escape. He will chase squirrels, birds, cats, etc. for miles and hours, literally ignoring all attempts to remember. Now that he is an adult dog such escapes are much less common and he will eventually give up after being chased for some time. However, we are getting a new puppy and really don't want her to learn from his bad behavior. I researched for several weeks before we decided on this brand. I figured if this thing could train hunting dogs, then so could my boy. Y'all I can't believe what this collar did to my dog! Here are the PROS: The remote is easy to use and goes well with my tone, static and vibrate are great options and avoid unnecessary static correction as it responds well to the tone on its own. In most cases I don't even have to press the sound button. I'm using static levels 1-2 and it's fully responsive. The range is phenomenal. Can walk from one end of the park to the other and control it. He no longer runs out the door. - I can walk him on a leash without his pointed collar. as soon as I say his name - he can run with our chickens and doesn't even flinch when they approach. Collar with charger in the morning. He stands at my feet, wags his tail and waits for me to put it on. Now that he has a lot more freedom, he's a happier dog! Now for the cons: Despite following the recommended collar adjustments, my boy developed neck ulcers. I would suggest checking back regularly to see if anything develops. He wore the collar for a long time because I didn't want him to run away and then not put the collar on to intensify my training and thus nullified all our progress. Once he's become more reliable and trustworthy to respond to his feedback, I now leave the collar very loose (so he can at least hear the sound) and tighten it when we go outside. - Both the collar and the remote control need to be charged every night, otherwise there is a risk of not being fully charged. I made the mistake of missing a night. He was working the next morning, but by the night I needed him to work he was dead. I can skip a night here or there, but if we're going out all day (with the collar) I'll have to Charge security in the morning. I would recommend charging the device as soon as you take it off. Personally, the tip hangs uncomfortably around my neck. I would have preferred the remote to have a clip so I could clip it to my belt. Sometimes I press the sound button and the beep sounds with a delay. I notice it more often if I don't exercise the night before. The vibration doesn't seem to affect my dog, just corrects it. - Using this device already requires the dog to understand basic obedience commands. You can't just put it on and start using static expecting your dog to be an angel. * In the wrong hands, this collar can do more harm than good. Proper training with an e-collar requires research and engineering. Highly recommended!
