At 16 years old, my 6'1" and 225 pound son has an annoying habit (it seems) of throwing himself on the couch. This has become even more problematic after some recent updates; We put laminate in the living room and got a more individual (and therefore lighter) sofa. It felt like I was constantly rearranging the sofa as he was now putting it down every time he sat down. This product was the perfect solution. They are about the size of a square coaster stand. They're just the right thickness - just enough not to squirm under the weight of the sofa without lifting the sofa high enough for you to notice. Most importantly to me, they offer a TON of traction. I asked my son to intentionally "throw" himself onto the couch with some force, but he didn't move a bit!
