Very thin!. Remove the plastic casing and you have a 1/8 inch cable. Very, very thin. I'm 4 feet by the way, if that matters. Box cutter, new blade and with 4 sharp cuts in the same spot where I cut that cord. Cable cutters are not required. It might be a good idea to lock things up in your garage to keep kids away from things they shouldn't be playing with. For "extra" protection, don't put your seat, front wheel, saddlebags, or anything on it. Seriously disappointed with it actually given its Kryptonite name.
