Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Edelbrock/Russell 672450 Brake Hose: Superior Performance and Reliability by Kevin Garcia

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor quality and be prepared to modify everything to fit

Stainless steel brake lines do not fit directly. actually you have to change something. cut and use old parts from old rubber brake lines to hold the wheel sensors. A hose will not fit the EOM GM brake line. These brake lines will work just fine. The quality of this brake line seems to have to cost around $35 at Walmrt. Its end connectors look extremely cheap and are designed for more versatile use. The reason why factory hoses don't use a round connector end, they use a block end so they don't move or loosen and because of this they are stronger. I'm honestly very disappointed in this product and complex based on the positive reviews. TO UPDATE ; ============================================== = === ========================================== = First of all they are not like that good and seems to cost about $35 compared to the brake lines I use, like a Chinese knockoff. Yes they work but the build quality is questionable, one of them doesn't even fit the GM brake propeller. I spent hours wasting $20 gm brake fluid making a mess. I couldn't get him to screw on the GM brake line no matter what. The GM OEM hose and the hose I replaced this item with fit like a glove. Included hardware, including end connectors, is cheap, no direct fit, no aluminum washers. also any modifications required for these hoses are disappointing. This also does not apply to active brakes, they can be used, although the brake line is different from the landing gear to the rear differential, with an active brake system there are separate lines for each brake. This kit contains only one line, not suitable for an active braking system, so you still have the old rubber brake hose. although replacing just 4 hoses with stainless steel is still a significant improvement. All of the OEM hoses in the engine bay coming from the master cylinder on my truck are braided stainless steel from the GM factory if you want to go all out. 5-ply construction, stainless steel braid, Teflon tubing and Kevlar braid (Kevlar is used to make bulletproof products, much better than just braided steel cord). this is SBH6057 for a 2003 yukon xl although not for active braking systems, there are the only ones that fit directly like oem and the quality is top notch. I will contact them to see if they have hoses for mid action brake hoses or can make me one, if not there is another company that costs hundreds of hundreds for a set of holes, albeit very expensive and it still is nowhere near SBH6057 quality. I'm hoping I can get just the hoses I need and not a set of holes as I need to replace the original stainless steel lines, they've rusted, and I only need 2 inches of room to work. I just need to replace everything I've done before. My plow truck had the rear brake lines rusting and all the brake fluid spilled out in the middle of the road on a hill in the middle of a snow storm, then at 3am it started to hail in the freezing weather and to rain just with a flashlight i was all wet and cold and by the time i finished i had frostbite even with the brakes on to keep warm i couldnt my legs feet and toes for over a week sense. I had to replace the EOM stainless steel front to back, it was so rusted it would just fall apart, good thing I had lots of parts to make it and friends brought me what I didn't have just a memory of it and again no thanks. Although it's summer and a newer truck and well worth it in the end, I bolted the maySBH6057 just like the OEM where this set wouldn't, they even have notches and use the same clips to fit a GM holder, looks like they used genuine GM connectors or reproductions and comes with copper washers, you get what you pay for, there's more money around $40 to $90 more than these depending on where you buy them. I paid $180. They have models for a wide range of vehicles, including imported ones. I didn't try to advertise these brake hoses just because I was very disappointed and it was very difficult and long for me to search for what I was looking for, I was just trying to help. StopFlex brake hoses have a much better professional look and superior quality than the EOM product. Braided stainless steel brake hoses should last the life of the car considering how much better the brake flex is than these. $40+ isn't really that much more for something that's a lot better, looks like a factory and will last the life of the car. Teflon and PTFE core (liner) which is first wrapped with a Kevlar braid, followed by an elastomeric barrier and then further reinforced with an outer stainless steel braid. The final layer of clear vinyl and all connectors, hardware, in my case are the same as GM OEMs. In other words, if you place the SBH6057 next to the original OEM GM hoses other than the rubber hose used by GM, one more thing is identical, it's not the same as pictured on Amazon, and they're thicker than Stop Flex, even though Stop Flex it is 5 ply. Do yourself a favor check out the stop flex brand of brake hoses, you won't regret it and it will save you a ton of fitting time as stop flex straight fits I don't think there is a brake hose made by better quality out there on the consumer market.

Pros
  • So far so good
Cons
  • Expensive insurance
