Although this hole saw set comes in a variety of sizes and features, there are also restrictions on wood types. I understand that there are some species of wood that are very hard but on visual inspection and to the touch the teeth on these bits do not appear to be very sharp which I believe is the reason they are limited to softwood as stated by Salesperson. One of the tests I ran was using a semi-thin piece of wood, I think it might be oak, and as expected the hole saw wasn't able to open the hole. It took me longer than I hoped as it wasn't a very thick piece of wood. All in all, this can be a good kit when used with soft materials, but if you plan to use this kit of materials, you might be able to get the job done, but it will take a lot of time and effort to drill holes.
