Edit: After using this product for a short while it's happening again. I think it might be good for some, but for me it was very unreliable. TP-Link makes good products, but this one was too inconsistent. For an additional $50 I upgraded to a wonderful mesh network and solved all my problems. The husband is here. Most of the reviews were positive, but there were also very bad ones. I'm a computer engineer by trade and I'm upgrading from a Linksys RE6300. I use LTE for internet and have a small ATT (20-45Mbps) hotspot for internet. It should be in the corner of my house by the window for normal reception. Decided to write a detailed review for others. So the access point is on the main level in the corner. My Linksys power strip is at an angle in the basement on the same wall. My office is about 35 feet diagonally from the power strip. I got an average of 1-5 Mbps - not enough to even view or show video in my meetings. I used WiFi Analyzer (same app name for Android) and the mobile app Speed Test. I rearranged the Linksys modem and extender in every possible combination to get the best overall signal. As a result I had 70-80 dB in my office - again not enough for video. I replaced a Linksys device with this TP-Link AC2600 device and am very satisfied. Tests showed an increase in download speed from 1-5 Mbit/s to 10-20 Mbit/s. The signal level rose from a fluctuating 70-80 dB to a very stable 60-65 dB. While I'm VERY happy with the performance and finally being able to video chat with my colleagues, it wasn't easy to set up. 5GHz does not penetrate as well as 2.4GHz and has no range. To get these speeds and signal strengths, I disabled 5GHz on both my LTE hotspot and my extender. If your line of sight is much clearer or you have high speed internet, try 5GHz and you may be able to enjoy superior speeds. I strongly recommend buying this extension. It's very easy to set up, but that's only half the battle. Be sure to download the above apps and test, test, test! Spend an hour or two finding the best spot for your router and extender and enjoy fast, reliable internet.
