Review on Nalgene πŸ’§ OTF Everyday Water Bottle by Randy Perry

Bad cap function for sports water bottles

The bottle is fine. Medium thickness and medium volume plastic (650ml, I would prefer 750ml). Around the same time, I bought several similar bottles of different sizes and brands for comparison, and this was my least favorite. The main problem is the lid latch. In order for it to lock, you have to press it very hard. So if you're running, for example, you'll end up burning more calories trying to latch the lid than you actually do, especially if you're running. They don't have a hard surface for the bottle to sit on while you squeeze. There is also a fuzzy click or other clear sign that the lock worked; As such, I can't count the number of times I've closed the lid (with great effort) thinking it was locked, only to have water splash on me or the floor when I opened the lid. In comparison, the CamelBak Chute Mag, which I bought around the same time, has a magnetic screw-top lid, so it's much more noticeable when closed; Plus it has the benefit of being 750ml with thicker plastic so I prefer it.
