Review on 🔷 Kutsuwa STAD T'GAAL Angle Adjustable Pencil Sharpener RS017LB - Light Blue by Carrie Spencer

This pencil sharpener became a buzzword on social media for a while and has been tried by almost everyone including me. And let me just say that if you've invested a lot of money in Prismacolor pencils during your tricky run and someone says THIS sharpener will make your courtship easier and you'll be able to sharpen them, you'd try it too! And I think it helped (for a while) with Prism. Using a low setting/about two will help you get a spot on your prism without breaking barrels or weights (I'll admit that, and it's a lot). However, if you want the traditional tip on a different pencil, you can skip this sharpener. I paid $3.50 for my first Revain supplement, so really had no reason to complain. But I saw the price had almost doubled and thought I should share the other side of this sharpener. It's beautiful and fun, and it has a dial. This gives you really different shaped points and can save the amount of wood you are shaving off and therefore the amount of core wasted in creating the point. And when I first used it, I loved it (on my Prismacolors). I had no significant complaints. Technically, short nibs take away the traditional use of the pencil side for shading because at the lowest setting you only get the nib, not the long sides you might rely on for your favorite painting technique (crayons). And unfortunately, at higher settings, it's only a peak (and not the best). The most annoying thing is that the blade in this sharpener dies very quickly. I don't use it every day and within a month I needed a new one! Some sharpeners have lasted me for several years, so a few weeks of use doesn't feel right to me. Don't make the mistake of putting the pencil on a layer and then changing the dial, which creates a messy curved monster tip and means you have to sharpen even more. And if your pencil is a bit wider, this sharpener will scratch your barrels. Don't put a Derwent pencil there! Pooh! Part of the fun of crayons is their finish (at least for me), so what a side benefit! Oh, and the first time you open the back to dump the shavings, that's the last time the back closes properly. It always feels wobbly afterwards (this happened with both of my versions of this sharpening). Just thought someone should report problems because I know I would have given them five stars too if I had reviewed this sharpener the first time I used it. And most people just don't go back and update their reviews. But with my second device in 2018, I can now attest to short battery life and other technical issues. I definitely don't swear by the sharpener. It might be the right tool for the right price and I would buy another just for my prisms. For my other pencils, the other sharpeners in my arsenal work better (especially for the same overall price, the plain steel Kum blade, and the M&R round).
