I was seeking something to hold note pads of varying sizes, from a full sized spiral notebook and legal pads, down to a more standard note paper-sized pad. I did not want a full-sized file rack because they take up a lot more space. This works well in the sense that it's small and stores the pads upright, taking up less space on the desk. It could benefit from a weighted bottom, or some other type of anti-tip design. It serves the purpose, but if you use it for full sized notebooks or legal pads, you'll need to make sure the weight is distributed to avoid tipping.
