Good, inexpensive way to install an SSD

Used this board to install an Oemgenuine 256GB M.2 PCIe Gen 3 x4 NVMe SSD Samsung PM981, (2280) MZVLB256HAHQ SSD. It was easy to install on my Asus Pro Gen 3 motherboard. Unlike others, I had to change the BIOS to make the motherboard boot from the SSD. There is a BIG article on the Win Raid forums webpage that describes the whole process if the motherboard has an Intel 6 series chipset or higher. If you only want to use it for storage, Win10 has an NVMe driver built into the operating system. You still need to initialize and format the SSD, but no bios mods are needed.

Pros
  • I/O connector cards
Cons
  • Some difficulties
