Not perfect, but better than a clothespin on your pocket!
I almost didn't buy this based on the 1 and 2 star ratings which suggest the wires will oxidize in the dishwasher and the seal may not be completely tight. However, I've noticed that even the expensive French and Italian cans say "don't wash the dishes" and how easy they are to take apart. Also, they may not be airtight, but a large number of the 40+ I've ordered in various sizes were under pressure when I opened them upon receipt, so mine were pretty good! Also, I'm not going to keep haberdashery for the rest of my days, I just want to keep bugs off of semolina, pasta, etc. and close lids better than a pocket clip, so I call it win, win, win. .
