I bought a pair of such lamps and in general I liked them. Particularly happy with the price. As already mentioned, it does not have an emergency light function. In other words, the night light will not turn on automatically in the event of a power outage. There are two ways to mitigate this: 1) Set the flashlight switch to the "on" position. Once plugged into an outlet, the flashlight will remain off until the power is turned off. However, you will lose the night light function 2) Change the circuit as shown in the attached picture. The return path of the night light LEDs is blocked by diode D3 in battery operation. Adding another diode in parallel but with reversed polarity easily solves this problem. Since the current drawn is only 4mA when the night light LEDs are on, each diode should be fine. When power is available, this newly added diode is reverse biased and does not affect other circuits. By the way, the brightness of night lighting can be good for the hallway. It's too bright for the bedroom for my personal taste. I reduced the brightness by replacing the current limiting resistors with 2kΩ (there were 150Ω resistors).
