As the name suggests, this is simply an improved version of the original absorber. Both aren't great for drying cars on their own, but remove most of the moisture well so you can end up towel drying. It's much larger so you don't have to wring it out every few wipes. I can drive a small SUV about halfway through before it needs to be rotated compared to a shock depressing every other pass. Using this and only that will leave small stains/streaks. The average person probably doesn't care, but if you're critical about how you take care of your car, make sure you use a towel right after, especially on windows and mirrors!
