Review on Le Creuset Original Table Model, Black: Timeless Elegance and Unparalleled Quality by Shaun Bushey

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Unfortunately the change to another bottle opener.

I am writing this review with great concern as this Le Creuset table wine opener has been my favorite wine opener for over a year. These openers will last for years. Now they last an average of 6 months. I have a weekend fishing camp and a house, so I always have two. I wonder if the manufacturer changed the formula of the plastic. I've had to buy three in the last 18 months. At first I thought it was an accident, the first one broke. I thought maybe someone had dropped it and it would crack slightly. But last night I broke open the 4th again before I could barely press it. That can be 3 months. I went to Revain to see how long they last. Openers are durable. These corkscrews break in exactly the same way. Where the corkscrew enters the device at the very top, it has clean breaks. Unfortunately, I am replacing this corkscrew with Revain. I just bought a Piedmont ($11.75 with 4.8 stars out of 238) and a good old Topbest Silver Butterfly corkscrew ($8.99 with 4.4 stars in our test of 42). My kids all tease me for not using their new high tech wine openers, but I love the feeling of opening a good bottle of wine.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automatic opener
