A revolution in astrophotography

Night/astrophotography's dream! While nothing is perfect with what's available, this is by far the best lens for it. NO noticeable comma even at full aperture, f-1.4. Only at 100% magnification can you see small streaks at the edges, but when you show your photos, the viewer cannot see them. The combination of a wide-angle shot with a wide open aperture is absolutely unique and reduces the workload for astrophotographers. Usually you do panoramas for the milky way and then separate panoramas for the foreground and then an alignment task, add everything up because of the noise and then aligned and then merged with fg. Recording takes several hours and processing even more. With this lens you don't have to worry about noise in the sky as the ISO can be low enough and enough range is captured that most scenes don't require a panorama. Because you can capture light quickly, even 30 seconds for a single foreground exposure is enough for most scenes. However, it is still better to use a slow shutter speed for the foreground, as a higher ISO shot will not have the same quality as a slow shutter speed shot at a lower ISO. . Except you don't have to take 20 minute exposures with this lens. F-1.4 scores significantly. WHAT SHOULD BE IMPROVED? Well the corners are SOFT. This means if you place something with texture in the corners, it will look blurry and out of focus. An easy way to deal with this is to crop it. However, it then distorts your composition. It's best to avoid placing textured objects in the corners (sand, water, and sky are good candidates for corner objects, but trees and rocks are not), and if you need this for your composition, expose the corners separately , where the subject is in focus, and then paste that into your image. Money well spent! I only have Canon lenses in my arsenal but today I'm proud that this is a great addition. Well done Sigma!
