Review on 🏝️ Premium 20-Pound Carib Sea ACS00223 African Ivory Coast Sand for Aquarium by Nicole Baca

May cause stress to fish in an existing aquarium.

5/27/19 - I used to buy this for my short 40g tank. So I bought one for my heavy weight of 55g. I like the way they look but it seemed to strain the fish when I first added it. It does get cloudy but at my 40g it's completely gone after about a week but I forgot to rinse off the substrate. I flushed it thoroughly and did 75% WC at 55g and it got rid of most of the cloudiness. Looks good after 2 hours. I hope I don't lose the fish. holding peacocks. Black gravel isn't bad, and I think it usually sinks to the bottom or middle of the substrate to ensure proper bacterial colonization. I used to have all house sand 3 to 4 inches thick and would have dark spots if you didn't clean it weekly and move the sand to get the beneficial bacteria to the bottom of the sand it was a pain too.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
