My dogs and cats managed to break through or get rid of every device I tried to use to keep kitchen doors closed in the middle of the night. Anyone with cats understands how hard it is to keep cats off the shelves so my frustration is real lol. I took a chance with this door stopper hoping that if I jam it under the door it won't let the door open, maybe my cats couldn't open the door with it under the door. The gap is bigger than usual, used to be carpet and now linoleum so I needed a bigger doorstop than usual. It's fairly light and I don't see how it will hold open a door of any weight, but it worked great for my purposes. It worked so well, it's wide enough to take both doors so I no longer need two doors like I thought so I couldn't be happier. If I ever need another doorstop to keep the door closed again I would not hesitate to buy one of these again.
