I have just used this and the bleed bottle that came with it to change the brake fluid on my VW Tiguan. I've never done this before but found it easy and not that difficult. From the YouTube videos I've watched I understand you don't really need these things, but they do make it a lot easier and reduce the chance of something going wrong due to air getting into the master cylinder. Some points: 1) As stated in the comment above, there is no pivot between the cover and the pump. You need to have a fairly solid piece of adapter taped to the fittings (the same as you would use plumbers) before pressurizing it. I only hand tightened it and there was a slight leak (no problem, just put a paper towel underneath). When you cap a bottle of liquid, you have to turn the whole bottle upside down with it. Not a big deal once the liquid is already in, but it hurts a little after you've poured a bunch. 2) What else you need and brake fluid: Lots of paper towels from stores. Brake fluid is a nasty thing. You want to quickly scrape it off any surface or yourself. Inexpensive turkey buster. Drain the old liquid from the tank and pour it into the bottle. denatured alcohol. You can find that in the paint department at Home Depot. Use it to clean the pump and bottle. The instructions say to use it instead of brake cleaner.
