I wear them under cotton pajama bottoms. As a writer, I sit a lot and have often had problems with varicose veins. I have a pair of these to wear under compression garments but have since had vein surgery to relieve the pressure. So if I'm sitting all day or standing in one place for a long time, like ironing or spending hours in the kitchen, I wear them. Nice and light, doesn't slip, doesn't stop my bleeding and is comfortable. and doesn't itch. LIGHT COMPRESSION is what I use it for. Or on a cold day I wear them to keep my shins warm. I bought about half a dozen pairs. Washing them in hot water and putting them in the dryer will loosen them up over time, so hand wash and air dry to keep them supple. And they fit a good sized foot!
