After lots of blogging and reading reviews I have come to the conclusion that the Volant Powercore is the right choice for any K&N product. 3 days later I got an appointment, great! My only problem was the installation. I have a 2007 F150 Lariat with a 5.4 liter engine. The airbox turned out to be much larger than I imagined and I had to move the fuse box that was mounted to the side of the engine bay. The 1/2 hose that came with the kit was too big for the bleed port and I couldn't use the factory hose because the valance didn't have a tab to snap into. The box comes with a couple of mounting screws but where it was placed there was only one hole that could be used as it was NOT the same as all OEM items. Took me almost 2 hours but most of the time I was just moving around (HID cord etc) and trying to turn on the filter. I strongly recommend setting the filter to DEFAULT. Overall, the looks of this thing are killer, and the sound when you hit the pedals is like a Rousch Mustang. It's as quiet as an OEM setup in normal driving. The best part is that this thing actually pulls in cool outside air, unlike the k&n, which actually pulls in hot air from the engine. I've seen another website have a down tube for the "compressed air" effect, but now I can't tell you which website.
