I wasn't sure how good the stand would be when I researched and placed an order for my wife. She used a tapered piece of wood with shock absorbers that was placed on the lower back of her MacPro13. As I said, this stand fulfills your expectations and wishes. Her laptop keyboard is far enough away from her computer that the two front hinges don't get in the way of her typing on the keyboard. Both front hinges are lined on the inside, as are two support pieces in four places. For us a great product at a very reasonable price. Very glad we got it.
