Cracked lids: my feedback

When I saw these, I was super excited. As you can see from one of my pictures, I had been using Food Saver Cannisters because I thought plain mason jars weren't that attractive but I prefer to vacuum seal all of my food. Last year, I had to start moving away from the Food Saver cannisters and go back to mason jars as I discovered cannister after cannister that had lost its vacuum seal due to the plastic developing hairline cracks. It was very distressing as I had to throw away quite a bit of food that had been ruined (such as freeze dried items.) I have recently purchased a total of 2 sets of the regular mouth and 5 sets of the wide mouth Bamboo Mason Jar lids. I love them because I can place them on top of my vacuum sealed lids (without the band of course), but my plain mason jars can be made to be pretty as well as functional. My issue is that out of all of the sets that I have ordered, I have needed to return/exchange 3 sets as there was a hairline crack in the wood. This last replacement set that I received not only came cracked, a wide chunk had broken off. As I am using these for purely aesthetic reasons I am hopeful that these will not fall apart within a year since I wouldn't need to wash them on a regular basis, but I guess only time will tell. I had given some thought to just returning all of them and going with the more expensive ones that are made out of a single piece of acacia wood instead of multiple pieces of bamboo that are glued together, but I will hold off for now. If you are someone that is using these as the actual lid for your jars which would require you to need to wash them regularly, I don't know if these would be a good choice for you.
