I'm not sure how long this thing will last but I put the thing in a sealed box of smelly boots and now they don't smell bad anymore. Just be careful not to overdo it or your shoes will have a bad smell that will linger for a long time. Obviously, ozone reacts with artificial materials, resulting in outgassing. Update: I've used this thing in many rooms in my house and it still works great and has enough power to get rid of odors. Second update: I wanted to share some tips on using an ozone generator after using mine and doing a lot of research. Just keep in mind that I am not an expert in this field. The first thing to note is that ozone is a super powerful oxidizer, it literally changes the chemical structure of many compounds, especially plastics, meaning it can break them down or weaken them, causing horrific outgassing in the process. Even when the ozone itself is completely gone and decomposed, a similar smelling gas will be emitted from any product you've tried to disinfect or deodorize. Using these machines is not to be taken lightly. Too high a concentration or too long treatment can cause irreversible damage and the outgassing will not go away. Use the absolute minimum concentration and time you need. I've found that a few short procedures are the way to go. For example, running a generator in a box of smelly shoes for a shorter period of time with some time for the ozone to decay, and then starting it again usually works better than just blowing it up for the same amount of time . Now I think ideally one of these machines could work if they could determine the actual ozone concentration and then run at a certain concentration for a certain amount of time, but that's not going to happen. Just keep in mind that this machine has its uses but is not suitable for everyone or every situation.
