Review on 7 Quart Black Lodge Pre-Seasoned Dutch Oven With Loop Handles and Cast Iron Cover by Amanda Mason

I ordered this after thinking about getting one for over a year, I have a Lodge enamel casserole dish and a Staub cocotte and I didn't want to screw it up by using it for bread making I know a lot of people do it with no problem, but I'm not going to risk a $75 pot, let alone a $300 pot. The pot I received was in pretty poor condition, the box was fine but the spice was badly damaged in several places, it looked like it had chipped off and then been very heavily recoated with a new coating, on the handles it was very bad. where it was so thick and sharp that one could not comfortably grip the handle without causing pain. It wasn't easy to fix, I didn't want to wipe off the bad seasoning and reseason it in a brand new pan. The second issue was that the lid/pan had serious flaws, just like any good Amazon shopper. I read a lot of reviews before buying and some said that some people had small holes in the lids that leaked during cooking. I could easily see these holes could be holes with barley spice covering them as I was planning to use the lid as a pot i couldn't risk it, the last mistake was the lid and pot didn't fit at all, loose seal since it wobbled very easily if you plan to use it as a dutch oven, it may damage your kitchen. I had to go back. So why a 4 star rating for something that arrived in terrible condition? I didn't know if it would be any different but instead of returning it I exchanged it to see if that pot was random and to my complete surprise Revane sent me a replacement BEFORE I returned the current one pot, it came in two days and my new pot that arrived was great with a tight fitting lid, decent seasoning and only a couple of small holes in the pot that didn't seem as deep as the others because they sent out a replacement right away, i was able to compare the pot sides side by side and see that the first pot clearly had to be rejected. I have tons of cast iron parts and I know they aren't perfect even if you get them from the store so I don't expect perfection just a decent product. Once again, Revain is showing me that I have the right to be a buyer here and will try to only purchase products sold by Revain and not by third parties. Revain really looked after me and I will continue to believe in orders from them. I just hope they don't try to sell this bad marijuana to someone else. Although, to be honest if someone just baked bread in it they could get by, but since the cast iron is gold in my house I know I'll be using it for much, much more. So please check your pot when you receive it and don't be afraid to send it in for another one.
