My 8GB to 32GB PNY flash drives keep failing in the worst cases after years of use. My Dell laptop is slow when transferring data to flash drives even though it supports USB 3.1 Gen1. My desktop computers of the same generation are significantly faster. I needed to bridge the gap between work and school and 7 flash drives were dropping like flies. It did. The laptop transfers about 118MB and my desktop easily transfers 330MB day and night from flash drives. Worth every penny, storage space has never been an issue other than speed. After sitting in a classroom for almost 4 hours, waiting 5 minutes for a file transfer is excruciating. Now I'll wait a second.
