Review on ๐Ÿง€ Westmark Germany Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Cheese Slicer (Red/Black): Effortless slicing with superior durability by Steve Yang

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great little cheese slicer - but beware...

If you like wafer-thin cheese for appetizers or recipes, you might like the Westmark cheese slicer. The advantages I appreciate are that it's made from a single piece of stainless steel with a sharp blade as a smooth part of a rounded triangular head so there's no risk of wire breaking. Its handle is made of hard black polymer with Westmark's signature red inlay. I don't particularly like the handle, although it should be easier for the user to hold than a regular solid stainless steel handle, which is why some people prefer this style of handle. Based on other reviews I plan to always hand wash this food slicer and not in the dishwasher which can ruin the blade and handle over time. The two downsides are that the blade, at least when I try to use it, can't cut a perfectly smooth slice along the entire length of a small piece of cheese. A small piece of cheese will be left on the underside of the blade, so you'll need to flip the blade over and carefully cut the tip to release the slice of cheese through the slot. If you do not remove the spring, you will likely break the cut and the appearance of the cut may not be to your satisfaction. The slicer will work just fine if you keep this in mind. When running a sharp blade down the length of a block of cheese, take extra care when approaching the end of the block so you don't cut the hand holding the cheese in place. All in all, this is a win-win if you love thin slices of cheese, care about extending the life of your slicer, and know how to overcome the Westmark cheese slicer's modest shortcomings. โ€“ LDK
