So I had a gas leak. My basement smelled of gas. The gas company arrived, located the leak in the copper pipe, and turned off the chimney tap. I decided that I would also buy a detector and bought this one. It arrived and I tested the copper tubing by opening the valve. Of course it beeped and showed a high range on the LCD. Shut down the unit and called a plumber to fix the leak. The plumber came with soap a week later but couldn't see the leak. I told him I have this gas analyzer. I turned it on, waited for it to warm up, and started checking for a leak. Nothing. zero displayed. Surprised, I went to the stove, turned on the gas and to my surprise - a big fat zero. As if this detector once worked and died. This is the most dangerous because it can give you the wrong impression that there is no leak.
