Review on πŸ”¨ Makita XNB02Z Straight Finish Nail Gun by Douglas Davis

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Bad nailing for power and hand tools

I own Makita for the vast majority of the power tools I own. I bought this excited to finally have a battery powered nail gun in my tool collection. Unfortunately, after sending about 250 nails on the first job, this tool was only 70% internal, at least flush with the finished surface. The rest is between 1/8 inch and sometimes 1 inch. It went into pine. Various nail lengths from 1 1/2" to 2 1/2". I love the brand but couldn't leave this tool. returned. **Edit** I had a chance to release another one of these at a trade show earlier this year. Had mixed driving skills. Speaking to a power tool manufacturer rep, he explained that this is a very common problem with this tool and the reason for MANY returns. We hope Makita can pack up and come out with a better version. Also to test "He Knows" LOL Amp Hour 3.0 vs 5.0 offers the same power output! 18V is 18V, it's just an indication of the time the battery can provide that power before it runs out. Do yourself a favor and try to avoid "smart" guys like this weekend warrior.

Pros
  • Dry fire protection mechanism that prevents work piece clogging and work surface damage. Reversible belt clip keeps tool close at hand
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
