I would use a heavier metal square for any carpentry work. I've been tuning a lot of guitars lately, carving little pieces of wood and the square is perfect for this when matched to my steel square which should be around 40. They were exactly the same angle as far as reading the numbers, I'm not sure what I just understood and I really don't need to read the numbers too much, just need to make sure the guitar neck is on its level and the frets are at the same height. And when you're working on a guitar you don't want a heavy square, you want something light like this, it's perfect.
