3.5 stars - it does what it says on the tin, very well, especially for the price. There are no complaints. But what made it clear that it was a "cheap nameless brand" was the backlight. Installed within a day, started, everything is fine. The screen is beautiful and visible in broad daylight. Everything was fine until nightfall, when I turned on the "night mode" for the backlight. The dimmed backlight was too dark. Let's say it was 9% when it should be at least 30%. The backlight is not adjustable; You only get super bright or super dark, neither of which are suitable for driving at night. "Brightness" is adjustable in the settings, but only changes the brightness in the image, not the backlight. And just like any "brightness" setting in photo editing software, it only blurs images. Even worse, there is no option to change the device's "theme/wallpaper", the night mode background. If you buy a device from an unknown brand, you lose some expectations like menu design, hardware speed and quality; However, none of the cuts - in this case the adjustable backlight - should render the device virtually unusable. This backlight issue makes the device almost unusable at night. If the device hadn't been installed, the wiring harness changed and the packaging hadn't been disposed of, I would think about returning it. The only other reason I'm keeping this device is because all of these unnamed devices are pretty much the same and I don't want to spend 2.3x as much on a brand name one.
