This is not a $2,000 professional microscope designed for use by a clinical microbiologist. therefore, it should not be judged by that standard. Instead, it makes an excellent microscope for the amateur, ideal for hobbyists or as an educational toy for a child or teenager. The supplied plastic sheaths are intended for inserting a probe into body cavities. So I'm guessing if you have an earache or hemorrhoids then that could be good for something like that. Or if you have a thorn in your finger; it would make sense to remove this spike. Not so many years ago, such a microscope cost over $1,000. So rejoice that in 2017 any layman can use such a microscope for less than $100. If you're trying to decide between buying a great magnifying glass and a USB microscope; I can recommend this microscope. It is also better than traditional non-digital field microscopes that only magnify 100x or 200x.
