Cable is not routed, comes with relay

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box and found that the camera comes with a 12V relay. This may be required depending on your setup as BMW e90 rear light is definitely not 12v powered and will cause a lot of problems when installing the rear camera. However, it didn't come with instructions on how to connect it. As everyone has said on all these aftermarket trunk release cameras: the silicone sleeve is very easy to remove from the plastic grip. I ended up attaching it to a plastic handle with silicone to make it harder to remove. However, it still didn't fit 100% into the original trunk handle hole. Part of the silicone sleeve still sticks out instead of being tight against the hole. May cause a small water leakage problem. What I dislike the most is that the cables are not designed to run through a rubber channel from the trunk lid to the body of the car. Because the channel is very densely packed, only the male end of the 4-pin connector comes through. The pin end connects directly to the trunk handle/camera itself and is too short to even reach the channel hole. Even if you try to push another wire (the female end of the 4-pin connector) through the duct, there's a giant black splinter just 6 inches from the female end that definitely won't go through the duct. channel too. You just need to make the male end maybe 2 feet longer. You know the relay needs to be packaged but decided to save wire length for a perfect fit. That's rather disappointing.

Pros
  • . Route cable from rear door to front panel, connect to display with universal RCA jack. You may need an extra adapter (not included) when connecting the factory radio
Cons
  • Some issues
