There are so many different ways to connect a display these days that it can be very difficult to choose an adapter from the many adapters on the market. This adapter is used to connect the HDMI output of a computer or other device to a monitor that only has a VGA input. The reverse will NOT work, you cannot connect an old PC's VGA output to an HDMI monitor with this one. All connectors are suitable, but the signal does not go in that direction. It only transmits the signal from the HDMI side to the VGA side. If you need the opposite, look for one with VGA->HDMI. Much luck! At the time of writing, the first line of the product description clearly states that this is the case, but this is easy to miss, it would be nice if they could clarify this better.
