I may have gotten a lemon so can't say that applies to every one of these units but certainly could not handle the sustained load advertised for this particular device and apparently the advertised security features did not work properly in this case. The device made a loud popping noise and turned itself off. I took the cover off to check the fuses and 4 out of 6 were blown. I replaced those 4 fuses and with no load on the inverter I reconnected the battery which caused a massive arc which damaged the battery connector and immediately blew the fuses again. Apparently there was a catastrophic failure that caused a short circuit inside the device, causing my battery to ignite so badly. And the high amperage, 48 volt arcs are no joke!
