7 years old is practically the limit for these hats for a normal sized child. The hats (1 white - 1 brown) appear sturdy and good looking. I don't put them in the dryer as I'm sure they will shrink and they fit my 7 year old grandson perfectly from the start. My four-year-old granddaughter's pigtail or ponytail suits her too, although she did complain that the hats tugged her hair a bit. Bought her her own hat and you know what, she kept complaining until I tied her ponytail behind her head. So for the price these are great gaming hats that shade the ears well.
