Having been one of the instigators of the ruin of the original Rite Press, I still think it was a good idea. I lost my money but I knew from the start this could happen. I saw this plastic version and since it was $11 and with my $0 Revain points I bought it. Yes, total waist glasses. The thermometer does not work. The printed part is very thin and doesn't reach down far enough for a cup of coffee. The outlet runs in a stream. The handle is odd, just a very cheap plastic bend. I like the idea of a removable bottom for the base. It would be better if the press went further down. I haven't had any leaks from the bottom but based on other reviews I'm very careful when screwing in the bottom. The feeling is that everything is very cheap. I took it with me as a replacement for the coffee maker. At home I'll stick to the Starbucks press.
