This is a replacement multimeter for a defective 61-310 that is no longer made and is in my recycling bin. Although my 61-310 was in excellent condition it was missing the 2 year warranty. I liked the simplicity of the older 61-310 and the positive stops for AC, DC etc. I didn't need RMS or extreme accuracy so the basic meter served me best. Add a temperature sensor and thermometer function and this gauge is even more productive for me. Of course I have Fluke and other brands - much better and more expensive - but sometimes cheap and simple devices are also handy. The only thing I don't like is that this gauge is thicker due to the plastic, a protective mold has been added on the back to hold the probes. My 61-310 didn't have these mold holders and I've never missed them. Luckily, the new 61-340 is still thin enough to fit in my Cornwell drawer (if it's taller, the drawer won't close). All in all, once I get used to this newer, simpler model, I'm sure I'll like it as much as the old 61-310. The temp sensor is already an upgrade from the base bead I got with the old 61-310. In terms of accuracy, it's a less expensive device but still impressive. The overload protection seems to be quite reliable. No business. The skin is wrapped. I think I paid at least $25 more for this unit than the first one. In general, the purchase is satisfied.
