Doesn't support Apple/Mac sources on LG Ultrafine 4k monitors

Purchased to switch inputs on my LG Ultrafine 24" 4k monitor (24MD4KL). Doesn't support output from my 13" Macbook Pro 2019 - not even when using DisplayPort Alt Mode and standard USB-C Gen2 cables. Also on Windows devices, the switching of inputs is very erratic and I almost always have to unplug and plug everything back in for it to recognize things. after switching. I was really hoping but it just doesn't work.
