Review on πŸ”§ Enhanced Performance Oil Filter Cover by URO Parts - Now in Aluminum! by Jesse Nell

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Might be dangerous for your engine, read on for details

Oh my god why can't it be easy. I just wanted to order this part to upgrade the plastic parts in my N52 engine. Then this aluminum oil filter cover is exactly what you need. Two parts: an oil cap and a center cage on which the filter is placed. So first things first, I had no idea how the two pieces fit together, there are no instructions. I never removed the cage from the stock oil filter cover (no need) so I struggled. In short, it's not as easy as it seems. You slide the cage in and tilt it so that it hooks about half the tabs, and then push the other way to snap the rest. ok got it. Then I took my spare and removed the cage. Connects very similar. I removed the old part. It has a spring inside and an inlet at the bottom that allows oil to drain out should the filter become clogged. In an emergency, the engine does not starve for oil. It won't pass a clogged filter, but it's better than nothing. It's a retreat, something that might never fit in. And that's where I'm stuck. Am I giving negative feedback about something that might never happen to you? But still, if BMW designed and installed it, there's a reason for it. They could have saved some money and skipped everything, but they didn't. Also looking at the bottom of the cage it looks like the oil could just seep through the bottom as if it wasn't completely sealed. But I can't see the other side clearly, so I can't say for sure. So the new aluminum part feels premium, durable and stuff like that. You can even see the source, but I have no idea what it's for. Looking at the detail, clicking and clicking, nothing happens. why is it there As far as I know there is no pressure reducing valve. For most people who change their oil at the normal interval, which is not every 20,000 miles just because the oil bottle says 20,000 miles, you should be fine. Do I trust it? no I removed the plastic cage from my stock part and installed it with the metal cover for now. part needs improvement. As it is, it is not an exact replacement. If anyone knows something I don't know or I missed something please correct me I will update this review. I would give five stars if the cage had a properly working pressure release. The lid fitted without any problems and the O-ring was already mounted on it. So be careful if you can handle it or don't worry. This is a 5 star purchase but no indication and a cell that doesn't work properly without an upgrade at least updating the description is wrong. I reached out and the answer I got didn't address my question and was mostly useless.
