When connecting the flare fitting to the power steering try to align the fitting so it enters at the right angle. I couldn't line it up properly and the insertion angle was just wrong. If the tube were angled a little more towards the front of the car it would seem to work. I pulled the hose out, clamped it in a vise and used a crescent wrench to bend the pipe on the flats of the flared fitting. Apply enough force to bend the tube slightly. Connected hose and it worked. Using a crescent wrench on the nut will not damage the steel hose and pipe threads. Don't even think about inserting a Phillips screwdriver into the tube hole and applying a bending force with it; You will deform the socket of the pipe and it will leak.
